GSSP for the Base of Homerian

Definition:

The base of the Homerian Stage coincides with the base of the Cyrtograptus lundgreni Graptolite Biozone. The GSSP is located along the northern bank of a small stream that feeds the tributary to Sheinton Brook in Whitwell Coppice, 500m north of the hamlet of Homer, UK.

Sedimentology:

The GSSP lies within the upper half of the Apedale Member of the Coalbrookdale Formation. The GSSP lies within a continuous mudstone sequence.


Primary Markers:

The base of the Homerian Stage coincides with the base of the Cyrtograptus lundgreni Graptolite Biozone.
